Parsons U.S.D. 503

Parsons High School enjoys several additions as well as a major remodel which includes a new 300 seat multipurpose auditorium, new practice gym with locker rooms, new weight room, and new wrestling room.  The locker rooms and wrestling room double as tornado shelters for the entire school population which meet the requirements of the FEMA 361. The new gym solved scheduling problems because they had only 1 gym before the addition. With the new addition, normal practice schedules have been implemented.

With the addition of 9 new classrooms, crowding is no longer an issue either, and students have adequate space to support the teaching/learning process. The cafeteria addition allows for a closed lunch period serving more students and much needed media center additions are included along with a new main building entry.  The student support areas also benefited from the remodel.

From a global perspective, the circulation problem was solved within the school itself by eliminating dead-end classroom wings, and finally, by pulling many additions together, the design team has been able to provide architectural cohesiveness for the structure as a whole.
